New Schindler Training Facility Visit – Industry Skills in Focus

Schindler Lifts Australia has opened a new purpose-built training facility at its Alexandria, NSW head office, highlighting the critical role of education and skills development in supporting the continued growth of Australia’s vertical transport industry.

In October 2025, Mark Liversedge, CEO of the Australian Association of Vertical Transport (AAVT), and Lindsay Lecompte (Managing Director, LeCompte Advisory) co-hosted a site visit with Ben Hopkins (Schindler – Product Safety Manager), for Melissa Wortman of NSW Utilities & Electrotechnology, Industry Training Advisory Body (NSW UE ITAB).

During the visit, the AAVT CEO Mark Liversedge highlighted the workforce challenges facing the sector, including skills shortages and the need to upskill existing technicians as demand for vertical transport systems continues to grow. Facilities such as Schindler’s new training centre play an important role in supporting vocational pathways and ensuring the industry has access to a skilled, future-ready workforce.
