KONE announces proposed acquisition of TK Elevator

KONE has announced a proposed acquisition of TK Elevator in a transaction valued at approximately €29.4 billion (USD $34.4 billion).

The proposed deal would combine two of the world’s major vertical transport companies and, if completed, create one of the largest global providers in the sector. The transaction remains subject to regulatory approvals across a number of jurisdictions.

Schindler Group has also publicly indicated it will oppose the proposed acquisition, with its CEO stating the transaction would “disrupt the industry” and may trigger antitrust challenges.

For the Australian market, immediate impacts are unlikely. Australia operates within a mature and highly regulated environment, where competition settings, procurement frameworks and compliance requirements play a critical role in shaping industry outcomes. Maintaining a competitive and transparent procurement environment remains important to ensuring strong outcomes for clients, regulators and the broader community.

Australian Association of Vertical Transport will continue to monitor developments and provide industry-relevant updates as more information becomes available.
